Snail Lake is 190 acres in size and bordered by Snail Lake Regional Park to the south. The park features a picturesque 35-acre area with a swimming beach, picnic spots, parking facilities, a boat launch, and interconnected hiking and biking trails. Perfect for fishing, boating, and swimming, the lake is a hub of recreational activities.
Future enhancements to the park include a beach building equipped with restrooms, changing rooms, and concessions, along with group picnic shelters and a children’s play area.
The park’s diverse ecosystems, encompassing oak woods, wetlands, and grasslands, provide a sanctuary for wildlife such as deer, foxes, herons, egrets, and waterfowl. Visitors can explore two miles of hiking trails, immersing themselves in the beauty of nature.
Beyond the main recreational area, the park is preserved as a nature reserve, offering additional hiking, biking, and cross-country ski trails. These bike trails connect seamlessly with existing and planned city and regional trails, ensuring a continuous adventure for all visitors.
Historically Rich
Recently, the land at Snail Lake and its building, Gyro Lodge, located at 580 Highway 96W, was considered for the National Register of Historic Places but ultimately was not approved.
